About Me

I am a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience supporting adults and young people experiencing a broad range of psychological and emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, post-natal depression, Bipolar Affective Disorder, PTSD and Complex PTSD. I have a particular interest in working with people impacted by challenging life experiences and childhood trauma, and adult trauma.

I am passionate about helping people develop a deeper understanding of how their life experiences have shaped and affected them, while supporting them to reconnect with their authentic selves. My therapeutic approach is compassionate, genuine, and collaborative, with a focus on creating safety, insight, and meaningful change.

Originally from Switzerland, I migrated to Australia in 1998, where I completed a Bachelor of Science and a PhD in Clinical Psychology. My professional experience spans both public and private mental health services and five years leading a private inpatient therapy program specialising in PTSD and complex trauma.

Alongside strong foundational training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I have undertaken extensive additional training in a range of contemporary evidence- based psychological therapies, and I am an accredited EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).

Since 2009, I have lived and worked on Tasmania’s North West Coast, where I enjoy the region’s beautiful nature, and spending time with my twin girls and animals.

Access & Rebates

Referrals and Funding Options

There are several ways clients can access psychological services

Self-Referral

Appointments can be scheduled without a referral from a General Practitioner (GP). To ensure I am the most appropriate clinician for your needs, I ask that you provide a brief summary outlining any relevant background information, your current concerns, and what you are hoping to gain from psychological therapy.

Medicare rebates are not available without a GP referral. However, many private health funds provide partial rebates for a limited number of psychology sessions each year. This will depend on your level of cover and included extras and you can contact your private health insurance to confirm your eligibility.

GP Referrals and Medicare Rebates

If you have a diagnosable mental health condition you can discuss with your GP to obtain a referral under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP). This enables access to Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year (with a GP review after 6 sessions).

Alternatively, a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan may provide a Medicare rebate for up to five sessions per calendar year across allied health services. This can only be utilised when psychological support is related to the management of a chronic physical health condition.

Also, ask your GP for further referrals for additional Medicare rebates across allied health services under the Closing the Gap program, specifically designed for Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander clients.

Please speak with your GP to determine whether either of these options is appropriate for your circumstances.

Third-Party Funding

Psychological services may also be funded through a range of third-party bodies, including:

  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) – requires a D904 referral form from treating GP
  • Workers Compensation claims
  • Motor Accident Insurance schemes (including MAIB in Tasmania)
  • Prior to starting therapy under a third-party funding arrangement, written approval from the relevant funding body is generally required. This approval should confirm the number of authorised sessions and any applicable funding conditions. Clients are responsible for ensuring that the required approvals are in place before their first appointment, but we are able to assist you with the process.
